Transfering blog to new ownership

I have followed the instructions to transfer the blog to a new owner and have received a message saying – “you cannot transfer to that user”. Can you advise?

It appears that to complete the blog transfer I need to access an email sent by WordPress and click the link it contains to finish the transfer. This has been sent to an email account I no longer have access to and therefore can’t complete the process. I only have an email for the new account owner – do they need to create a WordPress account so that they have a user name or can you use their email address (email visible only to moderators and staff)?
I have set up recovery emails and SMS if that helps in any way?

You’re signed in to the account that owns landscapeiskingston.wordpress.com. But, you’re saying that you no longer have access to the email address that’s listed at https://wordpress.com/me/account/ ?

Ok, since you are logged into the account, then the best thing to do would be to just change the email address on the account.
Then you’ll receive the confirmation email for transferring ownership.

How do I change the email….can you send me a link to do this? Will I receive an confirmation and to which email will it be sent…..I can’t access one of those emails!

You can change the account’s email address at https://wordpress.com/me/account
A confirmation email will be sent to the new email address.
