Transfering domain
-
I bought my own domain from godaddy.com
I then realised you have to pay to use it on wordpress.com
If I transfer it to wordpress.com, will I still have to pay godaddy.com every year? Or will wordpress take on the fees within the 2.99 a month?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Domains registered somewhere else cannot be transferred to WordPress.com, as we’re not able to accept incoming domain transfers. The only way to use a domain bought from GoDaddy with a WordPress.com site is via the domain mapping upgrade included in each of our plans.
Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping)
You’ll still need to pay GoDaddy for the annual renewal of the domain itself.

If i choose a different name that I don’t own yet, will that then be mine under the 2.99 per month subscription? Do I own it?

You can register a new domain as part of the plan, yes. That domain will then renew every year when the plan renews.
You can find the steps for registering a new domain here:
