Transfering domain

  After the site I am creating is ready to go live I will be transferring my domain that is purchased with another company. I have noticed when you purchase a plan it automatically gives you a word press domain, can this be changed to my domain after I’ve purchased the plan and before the site goes live? Alternatively, if I transfer the domain now before the site is ready to go live will users be directed to this unfinished site instead of the current one?

  Yes :) This is a very common question. Go ahead and build your new site on WordPress.com. Import your content, customize the theme, get it all ready to launch.

  Keeping the new site private will help prevent any SEO confusion since you’re going to have the same content on two different addresses.
