Transfering My Domain from Squarespace

    I am trying to transfer my domain from a Squarespace account I’ve had for the last 3 years. I love WordPress and want to start using that. I’m pretty sure I bought my domain name through Squarespace, so I’m not sure what’s the best way to transfer this. All Squarespace gives me is a Transfer Key. Do I have to pay for the Premium plan before I can begin any transfer process?

    Hi there,

    It’s not possible to transfer a domain to WordPress.com, so you won’t be able to transfer the domain to us.

    You can map the domain to us, however. What that means is you keep the domain registered with Squarespace, but then you point it to us by changing either the name servers (recommended) or the IP address. You make this change on Squarespace’s end.

    On our end you then add the domain mapping upgrade to connect the domain. That upgrade requires you to purchase either the Personal, Premium or Business plan.
