Transfering my domains, website and business email to wordpress
-
Hello, I currently have two domains, two websites, and business email under one hosting plan with Yahoo (now Aabaco). My blog is currently on wordpress.com. I’d like to transfer everything to wordpress now. How can I complete the transfer without losing my domain names, and can I put them under one plan or do I have to have two plans? And how can I transfer my business/domain specific emails, without losing anything? Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Lisa

Hi there @inbytheeye, I’ll try to answer these questions in order of relevance and what you’ll need to do:
– If the sites are separate, you’ll want two separate plans. If they can be artfully combined into one site with one main domain, one plan would do.
– Given that, your next step is to go ahead and start creating the sites here. You mentioned the blog is here. Do you want these sites to be separate from that, and separate from each other? If you need to make new sites, you can do that here: wordpress.com/start
Next, I would:
– Add the content / pages / posts
– Add your plan, and add the domains but do not point them here yet
– Get in touch with a Happiness Engineer to be sure your email settings were transferred over
– Get the site looking the way you want it
– Point the domains here :)
At this point, you’ll still need to renew the domains with your current registrar once per year. You would also need to be sure your email service is not cancelled.

I should add also that if you get a plan, you’ll get direct support rather than having to post in the forums. That way we could help you through some of these steps faster.

Thank you so much, Supernovia! I will select my plan and start the process. I appreciate your response. Lisa
