Transferred Domain and Now Need Previous WordPress Site/Pages

    I have transferred my domain from WordPress to another service and need to get back into my previous WordPress files / pages – is there any way to do this? Sine the domain has been transferred I cannot log into WordPress and the ‘admin’ link gives me an error message for the new service, which I have not published yet.

    I did read that you cannot transfer a domain BACK to WordPress once it has been transferred away – I just need to access the pages that I built originally on the WordPress platform. HELP!!!

    When you purchase a custom domain, you still get to keep your free WordPress.com address (example.wordpress.com). What is the URL of the site you need to access?

    The domain that was transferred was: cattonguegrips.com

    The URL to access that pages on the WordPress site I was given is:
    http://www.cattonguegrips.com/dev/wp-admin

    I need the following pages:
    FAQ
    ABOUT

    Thanks for the link.

    http://www.cattonguegrips.com is a self hosted site, not a WordPress.com site. I’m afraid I’m unable to access the contents of a site hosted elsewhere. I’d recommend getting in touch with your hosting provider. They should be able to help you get access to the site or provide a backup of the content.

    Hi there –

    So I think you’ve misunderstood my issue. I had the domain (cattonguegrips.com) with WordPress and started building the site with your tool. The URL that I provided WAS linked to my WordPress site.

    I then transferred the domain to another host (which is what you see NOW when you use the URL) and I have LOST my pages on WordPress that I had been working on…I want to get the content that I had created from those WORDPRESS pages but now cannot access (as I have transferred the URL).

    Does a back up of the pages I created with WordPress exist anywhere? I find it hard to believe that they have just disappeared into cyber space?! I cannot log in or do anything with ‘http://www.cattonguegrips.com/dev/wp-admin’ which is how I used to access my WordPress build…I just need the ‘copy’ and ‘information’ from those pages that I had started creating but now seem to be gone.

    Hi Eric,

    I want to get the content that I had created from those WORDPRESS pages but now cannot access (as I have transferred the URL).

    When you create a site you are given a free WordPress.com address (like example.wordpress.com). If you register a custom domain and then transfer it away, your site will revert back to its free WordPress.com address. Can you remember the address?

    Your account is only showing one site, could you have created it using a different account?

    Does a back up of the pages I created with WordPress exist anywhere?

    This depends on whether you deleted the WordPress.com site:

    If you did — we won’t be able to recover the content.

    If you didn’t — I might be able to help you out if the site is still online.

    Let me know and we’ll go from there.
