Transferring a WordPress website from an outside host to WordPress as host

    I have a WordPress website which is currently hosted by Aplus.net. Lately I have encountered problems trying to log-in to the website’s dashboard. Because Aplus.net hosts the website, none of the WordPress tech people I’ve talked to (on WPEngine, which I realize is completely separate from WordPress.com) have been able to get into the dashboard directly. I presume the same is true for WordPress.com tech support staff. Aplus.net is no help even though all my files and logs and everything related to the website sits in their system. Three different tech support staff at Aplus.net have told me Aplus.net provides installation and database maintenance, but cannot provide any way for me or anyone else to enter my website’s dashboard. So I want to migrate or export or whatever the verb is to transfer the website from Aplus.net as host to WordPress.com as host. I have a paid Personal plan, so should qualify. I understand that migrating a website costs nothing; but if it would cost something — ‘within reason’ of course — I think it will be money well spent. So … how do I migrate a WordPress website from the current host to WordPress as host?

    Hi there,

    What problems exactly are you experiencing when logging in? Have you tried asking the WordPress community over at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/? That’s where support is found for the open source version of the software you’re using at your current host, and might be able to help you figure out what’s actually causing the problem.
