Transferring domain

  I started to set up my blog using squarespace, and bought a domain there, but ive realized i need to switch to wordpress. i dont want to wait for another 18 days to start working on my site when i can transfer this over. do you have any suggestions?

  I’ll be happy to get this sorted for you. Which domain are you working with?

  Once the domain is 60 days old you can transfer registrars. At that point you could transfer the domain to WordPress.com if you want. This is an ICANN regulation.

  The other option for connecting your domain to WordPress.com is to map it, or point it, to us. That will mean that the domain remains registered at the current provider and you edit the DNS records to point it to us.

  Look over both options. You can map it now, and then transfer it later on, once it is eligible. It won’t make a difference as to what the visitors of the site experience.
