transferring domain name and web hosting to word press

    Hello – I have a website hosted elsewhere. They host and handle domain renewals, etc. for me. I want to move my website to Word Press. I’m working with a designer who’s about done building our new site via Word Press. What steps do I need to do to get this switched all over?? I have a Word Press account.

    Hi there,

    It sounds like you might have a site built using the self-hosted version of WordPress, called WordPress.org. If your designer used that version to build a site for you, it’s not possible to upload that site here with us. WordPress.com uses a completely different version of the WordPress software that’s not compatible with the self-hosted version.

    To use a site built with the self-hosted version of WordPress you need to set up a hosting account with a hosting provider like Bluehost or Pressable. Then you can upload your site’s files to that hosting account and connect your domain there to bring it online.
