transferring domain to wordpress

  i have a website up and running so if i transfer domain to wordpress will my website remain online until such time that i get my wordpress website up and running….

  No, if you need time to create a new site you should do it before pointing your domain to WordPress.com. Once you transfer or map a domain here, it will point to your WordPress.com site and not to your current site. If your WordPress.com site is not finished, your visitors will see an unfinished site.
