Transferring domains

  Hi there, I would like to know what is the best way to transfer my domain from Wix to WordPress. I am having someone design the WordPress website, but I would like for them to refer to the content I have on Wix before launching the WordPress site. Would that be possible? What is the best route to go?

  Just to be very clear, the import option above is specific to sites hosted on WordPress.com. If you’re building a site using the WordPress software at another host, you will not be able to use that.

  I don’t know of a Wix importer for the open source version of WordPress, but you can try asking in the forums for that version instead if that’s what you’re using:

  Likewise with transferring the domain, if you plan on using it with us here on WordPress.com, you can follow the steps here:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

  But if you’re using the open source version of WordPress you’d need to ask the specific hosting provider where you’ll be hosting your site for their process to do this, as you’d need to transfer the domain to them in that case.
