Transferring domains

    I bought my domain from Go Daddy and want to transfer to wordpress, but I bought 24 months of the domain and when I transfer to wordpress it says it will auto renew in 12 months – want to see how to keep the domain for the 24 months I’ve already paid for :)

    Hi,

    When transferring a domain from any registrar to another, you are always asked to renew your domain for an additional 12 months.

    However, it is important to know that you aren’t losing any domain registration time. If your domain is currently registered for 24 months, the 12 month renewal will simply be added onto that. So your domain will not expire for 36 months rather than 24.

    However, if you don’t want to bother with all that, you can always leave your domain with GoDaddy and simply map it to use with your WordPress.com site:

    https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
