Transferring Existing Domain

My company’s current webmaster is retiring, and I’m taking over managing the website (which hasn’t been updated in some time).
My question is – if we’re happy with the current layout of the website, but simply want an easier way to keep it updated, would you be able to help with that? Or would the site need to be changed to accommodate a ‘Word Press’ website template?
We’re open to choosing a new design, but are curious to know what our options are.

Also – I’m more than a little annoyed that I cannot contact somebody at WordPress directly. Our retiring webmaster suggested WordPress, but I would like to be able to speak with somebody at the company regarding this issue, and don’t feel like that’s too unreasonable of a suggestion.
If you know of other website hosting platforms where I can get an answer from somebody who actually works there, I’d be very appreciative.

As you created this WordPress.com account minutes ago and don’t appear to have a site here what is the address of the site you need help with and where is it currently hosted?

This support forum is manned by volunteers and staff who offer assistance to the users of free sites hosted here at WordPress.com. However if your domain is hosted elsewhere and you wished to transfer it to a WordPress.com site then once you’d purchased the necessary upgraded plan you’d have direct access to Livechat support from staff . Until then you’d need to provide more details of your plans right here in this forum.
