Transferring from GoDaddy

  Hello, I just purchased a domain from GoDaddy for five years with their five year security, if I transfer to wordpress, does that five year ownership and security carry, or is it lost?

  Hi –

  When you transfer the domain to WordPress.com we take over as the registrar. Any extras or promotions from GoDaddy would not be applicable as we are a different company.

  In this case, domain mapping may be a better option. Check it out at:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  That allows you to show the WordPress.com version of your site on the internet, and the registration would stay with GoDaddy.
