Transferring my blog

    I’m wanting to know if I can use a blog I started through WordPress on my 1&1 account which is managed by WordPress, and how to create a zip file to transfer if needed

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    If you want to move your WordPress.com site to a self-hosted setup at 1&1 you can do so by exporting your content at My Site ->Settings ->Export. That will give you a .xml file of your site’s content that you can then import on the self-hosted site at Tools ->Import in the WP-Admin page.

    It is not possible to transfer a full WordPress.com site, though, as the source files of a WordPress.com site cannot be exported or downloaded, only the content.
