transferring my blogs on my personal domain

    Hi friends,

    I started blogging about 13 months back and have been using the free module.

    I want to shift to my personal domain now.
    I have it registered as exatraveller.com.

    I want to know how do I convert my existing wordpress account on this domain – I guess it will cost me USD 13 per year.

    But will all of my posts be transferred on this domain and how?

    Also will I be able to register that on adsense etc. and will my pages be visible there?

    Domains are no longer available for purchase or mapping individually. They are included with WordPress.com Premium. This change has been made as we work to offer the best combination of value and performance for users while still offering a completely free product for those who do not wish to purchase any upgrades.

    A great way to go if you are not interested in WordPress.com Premium is to look into setting up a self-hosted WordPress.org site through a hosting provider such as Bluehost, GoDaddy, or Pressable.

    This is done automatically by our system. You do not need to do anything. exatraveller.com will simply replace http://exatraveller.wordpress.com/.

    Also will I be able to register that on adsense etc. and will my pages be visible there?

    Third party advertising (including AdSense) on WordPress.com sites is not allowed. For full details, please see:

    If you require other advertising, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on advertising if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities.     I am still confused.

    My domain exatraveller.com is registered (in my name only).

    But I have surrendered it.

    If now I want to pay up USD18 and want my blog changed to http://www.exatraveller.com – is it possible.

    To use a domain registered with another registrar, you need to set up Domain Mapping (included with the WordPress.com Premium plan). You can find instructions for setting up Domain Mapping here:

    Thanks dear.

    Well I think I am stuck in a bad situation.

    I registered for a domain – exatraveller.com on NowFloats and somehow couldn’t do anything with the domain.

    In the meanwhile my blogs on wordpress continued under the domain exatraveller.wordpress.com

    Now as I want to change my domain on wordpress as exatraveller.com, I am unable as the domain is not available.

    I know I can still go ahead and register my domain on wordpress as exatraveller.in.

    But the question now is – will all my content on exatraveller.wordpres.com get trasferred to exatraveller.in

    Also if any old person who uses exatraveller.wordpress.com to get into my blogs – will he be automatically directed to my new domain – exatraveller.in?

    I have cancelled my domain name on the other platform – but I cant get that domain exatraveller.com for another sixty days.

    So what do you advice shall I go ahead with exatraveller.in or wait for the .com to be released .

    Yes and yes.

    That is something you will have to decide yourself, I’m afraid. Are you sure that you cannot change the nameservers for exatraveller.com to point to WordPress.com?
