    Hi, I have just paid for my domain renewals through fast hosts for another year. If I transfer one of my domains to word press now, will I pay twice for this coming year? (ie to fasthosts and wordpress? Thanks

    Hi,

    The answer is… sort of?

    When transferring a domain from one registrar to another, you are asked to renew the domain for an additional year. So, if your domain currently expires January 2022 and you transfer it to a new registrar (WordPress.com or someone else), you will pay for an additional year and your domain will now expire January 2023.

    So yes, you pay twice, but you aren’t getting double charged, you are just moving your expiration date out another year.
