Transferring to WordPress

  I am currently with 123 reg but I have outgrown their website builder. I want to begin building my new WordPress website, whilst keeping my other website up and running until I am confident enough to move things over. Is this possible? If so, how do I do this?

  Yes, you can certainly do this.

  1. Leave the current site alone.

  2. Register a free site. Click on My Sites – Domains – Add. You might want to hide it and keep it private until it’s ready to launch. If so, that’s just an easy privacy setting that needs adjusted.

  3. Build the site. We will be here to help and answer your questions. These are great resources to get started with.

  4. Connect the domain. You’ll need to add a plan to your account. Most folks get started with the personal option. Those are outlined at https://wordpress.com/pricing/ This price includes your hosting and your domain cost.

  5. Launch the site by disabling the privacy setting in number 2.
