Transferring to WordPress?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Folks,

I volunteer with a small non-profit in Canada and our current hosting provider wants us to upgrade to their $200/year plan because increased web traffic is causing faults on their servers.

However, the traffic is mostly coming from bots, I’ve tried WordPress plugins to block bad bots, but we are still experiencing issues.

Is there another way we can deal with bad bots?

If we transfer to WordPress.com, will this problem be managed for us?

    Thanks!

  • Hi there,

For help with blocking bot traffic the folks in the WordPress.org forums will be better able to help your:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

On WordPress.com we offer unlimited bandwidth on all our plans, even the free plan, along with site security, spam protection, and automatic software updates.

However, if you’re using plugins on your current site, or wish to use a particular theme, that will require our Business plan at $300 a year, so we could end up costing you more than your current host. But this depends entirely on what your needs are.

Let me know if you have any other questions about this.
