Transferring Website

  I am having issues transferring my domainname.wordpress.com website to my new Blue Host domain (domainname.blog). I can’t seem to find information on how to do this or even get that option when I pull up my domain. I could really use some assistance in doing this. Thanks.

  Hi there,

  You can follow the instructions on the guide linked below to export all your site’s contents and import them on your Bluehost hosted WordPress site.

  Thanks for that info. When I transfer, do I have two sites then with the same content? My free.wordpress.com site and my bluehost site? I’d like to reroute viewers to my new site. How would I go about that? Thank you!

  Sort of. :)

  When you transfer the example.com domain from us to Bluehost, you’d have 2 sites, the new example.com at Bluehost and the old the example.wordpress.com which can now no longer be reached via example.com as anyone visiting example.com goes to the Bluehost site.

  So, your desire of rerouting visitors is already taken care of. :)

  If you want to delete the WordPress.com site, you can: https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/

  Alternatively, you can keep it around for a bit (maybe you want to move back) and ensure that example.wordpress.com goes to example.com at Bluehost with a Site Redirect upgrade: https://wordpress.com/support/site-redirect/
