why do i have to pay to transfer my wordpress.com blog content to my newly purchased domain name (godaddy) when i just installed the wordpress app onto my web hosting (godaddy)? after all, i will be using wordpress as my backend for my official website. i should not have to do this twice. that’s like paying double.

You can export your blog from here and import it to your new site – do it yourself
Dashboard >> Tools >> Export and Import – be sure to check the box somewhere that says “transfer media / pictures” –
The Widgets you need to do one at a time – some should be able to go straight across and in some cases you will need to find Plug-in’s to replace the Widgets you don’t have on your .ORG install

yes, i exported all of my content into an XML file on my computer. my blog is jenniferelizabethboyer.wordpress.com and i just bought the domain with hosting from godaddy: jenniferelizabethboyer.com. how do i then get my blog content imported to that new domain site (which is currently blank and empty waiting for content to be uploaded)?

Log into your Godaddy blog and Import the XML file that you saved to your computer – your Godaddy blog will get the pictures from your old blog if you pick the correct option – you want your old blog to be up and running – sort of like the Export you did but in this case you Import
