Tried to upgrade, now I'm locked out

  I’m self-hosting my blog. It can be found at http://michaelmcbroom.com/blogistan

  I’m running a copy of WordPress that’s a few version older than the current one. Reason is, the automatic upgrade failed last time I tried, so I just put things off. Well, today I gave it another shot, and it errored out again. I should have written down the message it gave me, but I didn’t. It seemed minor, though. Something about not being able to copy a .jpg as I recall. So, after that, I go to do something else and I get this:

  Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_network_admin() in /home/michaelm/public_html/blogistan/wp-admin/admin-header.php on line 24

  I can’t get past this error message to try and fix whatever is wrong on line 24 in admin-header.php.

  Just so’s you know my abilities — when it comes to working under the hood on websites I know squat. If it isn’t menu driven, I am totally lost. So right now it looks like I’ve crashed my blog, and I have no idea how to fix things. If you can give me some coaching on this, I’d really appreciate it.

  And no, I didn’t update my database because I don’t know how. I’m probably screwed, aren’t I.

  I realized I can always d/l files using my ftp program. duh. So I d/l’d admin-header.php and I’m looking at it in Wordpad right now. I don’t know from php, so it’s making no sense to me. But I can’t really see anything amiss. Far as that goes, I don’t even know how to count lines. Do blank spaces count as lines? How about when text wraps? When it wraps, is that a new line, or a continuation of the old one?

  If it will help, I can post the contents of my admin-header.php file here. It’s not that large — only a couple of pages long.
