trouble getting started

  Hello, I am new to building a site. I just went and purchased a domain on Google Domains and now I came to wordpress to build a site. I want to sign up to upgrade from the Free account and when it asks about a domain, I selected map an existing domain. I type in the domain name I purchased and go to pay for upgrade and it is telling me its not allowed. Can someone please tell me what on earth I am doing wrong?! Thank you!!
