Trouble moving subscribers from one self hosted site to another

    I have tried to move my subscribers from one site to another, but when I look in the migration tool, there are no option to choose from for a site to get the names from. I am trying to move subscribers on a blog on the subdomain to one on the main domain. Any help? Is it because the first is a subdomain of the one I am trying to migrate to? Thanks! Susan

    Hi there,

    Can you please give the addresses of both the old site and the new site between which you’re transferring the subscribers? Then we can take a look what’s going on.

    The site I am trying to get the subscribers from is:
    http://www.gordonmedical.com/unravelling-complex-chronic-illness/

    The site I am trying to move them to is:

    Gordon Medical Center – Unraveling Complex Chronic Illness

    You can see one is a subdomain of the other, but they have operated completely independently, and subscribers to the first are not getting notices for posts to the second.

    Hi there,

    You’re having trouble with migrating your subscribers because the domain and the subdomain are connected to two different WordPress.com accounts via Jetpack. gordonmedical.com is connected to your account, but gordonmedical.com/unravelling-complex-chronic-illness/ is under the puttinglymebehindyou WordPress.com username.

    Do you have access to that account as well? If so, you can log into that account and disconnect Jetpack from gordonmedical.com/unravelling-complex-chronic-illness/ . Then you can connect it to your account.

    If you can log into puttinglymebehindyou to verify ownership, or have the owner contact us in this thread to provide consent, we can do all the above for you. Just let us know if you have any other questions.

    I have logged into the puttinglymebehindyou account. If I disconnect the older account it from Jetpack, will I lose my subscriptions, or will they go to the new Jetpack connection? I wasn’t aware it was still connected through the old account, as I can see it in the new WordPress.com dashboard.

    Hi there,

    It’s not strictly necessary that your Jetpack site is connected to the same WordPress.com username account – it prevents you from migrating your subscribers on your own, but we can still do it as long as we have permission from the user who owns the site losing the subscribers, which is puttinglymebehindyou

    But it looks like you’ve already been helped with this by Jetpack support, so I’m closing this thread as resolved.

    If you need any more help with your Jetpack-connected sites, you can just reply to the email ticket directly.
