Trouble transferring to dreamhost

    Hi, I have been trying unsuccessfully to transfer my wordpress.com website to wordpress.org via dreamhost but have been having a multitude of problems with dreamhost and am wondering if anyone else has been experiencing a similar thing (or if I am simply going about things the wrong way?)

    I followed all the steps – registering with dreamhost etc. Then the steps said to change your NS numbers on wordpress.com to direct them to dreamhost (which I did). The steps then said to wait a few hours for dreamhost to set things up at their end. It said up to 72 hours but I have been waiting for about 10 days with no joy. All emails to dreamhost have gone unanswered except for them emailing me my password (how is that supposed to help!!??)

    I can log in but it always says “account pending approval” and when I click on the panel, it won’t let me do anything at all. I try to follow the instructions and import wordpress.org with “one click install” but it won’t let me click on it. It only lets me click on “manage account” and then takes me to my credit card details.

    When I first registered with dreamhost, I gave my credit card details but it said it was signing me up to some sort of test-out free trial period. Does that mean I can’t do anything at all on dreamhost until the trial period is over??

    I am getting so frustrated with this now! I wanted to smoothly transfer the site over and get to work. I can’t understand what the problem is at their end and what the huge delay is all about? Should I try to cancel the account alltogether before they take the money off my credit card? Is this how things always are on dreamhost or am I just having start-up problems?

    Please help, it’s driving me crazy!! lol… My second choice was Bluehost. Can anyone advise how they are with support. Would anyone recommend them over dreamhost??? All I want to do is to get working on my website in the quickest and easiest way possible.

    By definition all of us here have chosen WordPress.COM as our host. I have no experience with dreamhost but most “trial periods” let you do something relevant. It looks like the nameservers have changed if you are asking about the name that redirects from your name. http://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/beautylicious101.com – but is seems that your new host is having problems, they need to somehow set up things on their end so that the internet knows that is your new host. Their support people would be the ones to fix the problem of not having a landing site for your name.

    You should also make friends over at WordPress.ORG as they are the ones that support the software you are using. http://wordpress.org/support/
