Trying to leave Wix.com. If I build a WordPress site, can I export the code?

    I currently use Wix because I am not a programer/coder/site builder etc…

The problem is that Wix does not allow my to use other Hosting Services.

If I use WordPress Site builder, once I’m done, can I export the code? and Can I use places like, Gator Hosting etc…

Once I am done building a site, I want to have my website guy edit them.
Why don’t I allow him to just build the site from scratch?
I used to, but I take a long time, I also want things a certain way so I use Wix to get most of the site done, then hand it over to him to make small edits over time. Also, I don’t know how to code and he handles all my backend stuff.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

If you want to run a WordPress site at a host like Hostgator, it’s best to build it there from the start, so you’ll be using the open source WordPress software.

WordPress.com is not the same thing as WordPress – we’re a managed host for that software, and we use our own customized version of that software. You can export the content of a site created on WordPress.com to an existing WordPress site at another host, but you cannot download an entire WordPress.com site in order to just upload it directly to another host’s server.
