Trying to locate my .xml file to transfer to new Squarespace website

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
I have moved over to Squarespace. The transfer of my domain was done but I am having great difficulty trying to get my .xml file over to Squarespace so I can continue working on a new website. I was with GoDaddy and can log in there, but have no access to my old wp login dashboard and am panicking that my 15 years of business has been lost.
Can someone help me out asap?
Last night we took measures to change the name servers on Squarespace so that the A record points back to my IP address.
If anyone can help I would be ever grateful.
Till then my website and clients are in limbo.
    Thanks a million
    Petra King.

  • Hi there,

All signs point to the fact that your site is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, not a WordPress.com site.

To clear up any confusion, self-hosted WordPress sites and WordPress.com are two, different entities, but the essential difference is that we don’t have access to all WordPress sites, only ones hosted on our WordPress.com servers. For more information, please see:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

However, if you have access to the server control panel through Go Daddy, it is always possible to regain access to your WordPress site. This WordPress.org Codex article will walk you through the steps:

Also, you should reach out to the Go Daddy support team for direct assistance on this.

    Thanks!
