Trying to make post ‘sticky’ in Leven theme

I have partially succeeded.
With post marked ‘STICKY’ in editor and as ‘make this my posts page’ in PAGES, this article appears as FEATURED in red- at the top of posts page titled NEWS in my case.However, what I ideally want is for the posts page to be shown as excerpts only WITH the sticky at the top.
But it doesn’t.
It still showing at sticky in the editor and PAGES list but reverts to chronological order in the actual NEWS page.The page is set to ‘static’ home page + posts page, as per the set up tutorial and so far
I have spent over a month trying varying combinations but can’t seem to get the right mix.Hope I have explained this clearly- if not, please ask.

Hello, was hoping to make contact with theme’s developers as I am not convinced what I am attempting is possible under current settings.
Just needed yay or nay from them.
Have already studied the CSS and HTML under the skirt- not terribly helpful.

What more does he require?
I thought was just the url.If it can’t be done, no big deal.
The site is largely “proof of concept,” it began with me trying to help a friend with her site.
Generally I work in HTML CSS so this isn’t the end of the earth~Thx

Do you mean aim2d.com? If so you’re asking in the wrong place I’m afraid. Your site is hosted with Google, not WordPress.com. If your site uses the wordpress software the correct support is found at:

In reality I believe you are mistaken.
Aim2d is NOT hosted with Google – or anyone.The domain is held registered with and held by google.
Maybe in your hurry you have been thrown off target?.
Seems you did not open the site?Kokkieh asked for a link to the site, and, although I wasn’t certain how it would help, I provided one. He is, after all a WP expert- I am not.
Anyway, look, thanks to everyone for their input, we are not going to get anywhere I feel, it is not a life or death situation so I will move on.

Hello again, It was my error for misunderstanding that the “Thanks, Aim2D” you mentioned in your earlier post here https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/trying-to-make-post-sticky-in-leven-theme/#post-3518460 was the relevant site. It seemed to me like a signature the way it was written.
aim2d.com currently redirects to aim2dchinabusinessnews.wordpress.com which is using the Leven theme.
If you still want help with this let us know.

I can easily see how you would be misled.Look, I appreciate everyone’s time, but it seems [maybe ungraciously] that we are sort of getting best guesses from people who probably don’t know.
Which was why I thought the horses mouth- developer- was the best course of action.If Kokkieh can throw any light on it- fine, otherwise, lets put it to bed, close it off to well meaning amateurs and write it off as experience.

Besides, as I indicated, I began this over a month back- I have continued to play around with it so no huge hurry.And lets be crystal JJ, it wasn’t your error.
Looking at it again with the wisdom of hindsight- I would have made the same conclusion.I deliberately did not put the full address in as I could not recall it and didn’t have time to look for it. I knew Aim2d would open to it anyway which would give access to the source code .
I use Aim2d for dummy sites etc from time to time.
Again, I was in a hurry, not paying enough attention.

Now that I know you’re speaking of the site, https://aim2dchinabusinessnews.wordpress.com/, I can also see what’s going on:
You don’t have a posts page set.
The page on your site displaying your posts, https://aim2dchinabusinessnews.wordpress.com/latest-china-marketing-business-social-media-tech-news-trends-stories/, is not a designated posts page, but a regular page on which you’re displaying posts using the Blog Posts block. That block does not check whether or not a post is sticky, which is why your post, China Marketing News and Trends, does not appear at the top.
For sticky posts to appear at the top, you instead need to assign a page as the posts page on your site. You do that in the Customizer under Homepage Settings:

On the posts page, this theme doesn’t automatically display excerpts for posts. If you only want excerpts to appear, you’ll need to create them manually by inserting the More Block at the point in the post where you want it to cut off.
I deliberately did not put the full address in as I could not recall it and didn’t have time to look for it. I knew Aim2d would open to it anyway which would give access to the source code .
Aim2ddoes not open anything if typed into a browser, as it’s not a URL. At most it might bring up a Google search result with a link to your site, but in itself it’s not a direct link to your site. If you want to direct people to your site, make sure to always give the full address, aim2dchinabusinessnews.wordpress.com, else there is no guarantee that they will find your site. -

You have confirmed what I believed- the theme does not support; “display excerpts” and I would need to manually add a “more” link.

I am aware what a url is and isn’t, as explained, it was my error, I was in a hurry. I omitted.com and it ended up looking like a signature, as JJ said.
