Trying to rebuild my old website using a new username?

I am trying to rebuild my old website using a new theme and a new username but as a newbie am finding it hard to navigate through. My pages say published but they are not. I am therefore asking can i start a fresh with my new username? When i try to register afresh, wordpress tells me that my new username is already in their system. Also, can i get the most updated wordpress because i don’t have any plugins only widgets?

Did you create a new username in a separate account, or change the username on the old account?
My pages say published but they are not.
Please provide a link to at least one such page. Just copy and paste the URL and identify it by title and the website it came from. https://kochakenya.wordpress.com/ appears to be an empty website.

The answer here depends upon the answer to my first question above. Is it the old account with a new username, or a new account? What are you trying to register?
