Trying to set up e-mail forwarding

  • Unknown's avatar

When I try to set up e-mail forwarding I get this message:

This domain currently has custom mail servers defined in its DNS settings. This means that WordPress.com Email Forwarding is not available for this domain, and that you should manage your email with your email provider.

The email servers for this domain are:

    mailstore1.secureserver.net.
    smtp.secureserver.net.

I just purchased the jessphilo.com domain and have it set as my primary domain in WordPress and haven’t set up any e-mail with the domain. I successfully set it up with jessicaphilo.com but am having trouble getting it to work for this domain.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

When you changed your name servers to WordPress.com, we imported your mail settings from your previous registrar. If you’re no longer using mail hosting from another service you can just remove those records.

For the domain jessphilo.com you can delete both records labeled MX and the two CNAME records for “mail” and “email”.

You can do this through Store > My Domains. Select Edit Domain and the Edit DNS. Just click on the trash can icons next to the records I mentioned above and save your changes.

You may have to refresh the page for the email forwarding settings to become active again.

Let me know if you have any questions!
