Tumblr Import Blog
-
Hi.
I’m trying to export multiple blogs of mine, but I see the following message :
‘As one or more of your Tumblr blogs has a Custom Domain mapped to it. If you would like to import one of these sites you will need to temporarily remove the custom domain mapping and clear the account information from the importer to import. Once the import is completed you can re-enable the custom domain for your site.’
I keep checking the settings on WordPress or Tumblr to try and deactivate it, I dont see it anywhere. Any help would be most welcome please !WP.com: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I would also like to add that the sideblogs said to have a “custom domain” actually dont ? I checked the settings and its toggled off. I dont understand.

Hi there,
When I check on our end I see that we are still working on importing content from aikeero-lecoredier.tumblr.com. Please note that imports can take some time, especially if a lot of content is involved. I noticed that your site currently has 77,000+ posts and 3GB of media, so it appears that possibly a lot of content was imported since you made this request.
You are still having issues with your import? If so what is the site(s) that are giving you trouble so we can take a closer look?
Thanks for the additional info!

Hello,
I was not having an issue with importing from this blog.
The import is now finished, what I’m having trouble with is the fact that I can’t import my sideblogs because wordpress deem them to have a “custom domain” even though this is not true.
I would like help to disable whatever custom domain this is about.Furthermore, when I try to import another blog of mine that wordpress deem to not have a custom domain, wordpress, wordpress tells me that “You can only have one running import at a time” even though my previous import is finished ?

Hi again,
To clarify, these are some pretty big Tumblr sites, yes? They have many posts, and those posts each have many images?
I ask because I see, at this point, you are well over the 1GB media storage limit for free sites and currently have 3GB in the media library. You can confirm here: https://backup005.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php.
I’ve also noted in your last import that it failed with the following message:
Sorry, you have used your space allocation of 3 GB. Please delete some files to upload more files
We appear to allow extra media space for imports to finish (you can then delete media from your library to get under the 1GB limit or upgrade for more space), but in this case, it seems that beyond 3GB, you are not able to proceed.
You have a couple of options here:
- Upgrade this site to our Premium Plan (which has 11GB or media storage), and then you should be able to proceed with your imports
- Instead, you may wish to create one free site per import. As it is now, you seem to be trying to consolidate all your Tumblr blogs on a single site, which is impossible under our free plan. You could try to create multiple free sites, however (perhaps one for each of your Tumblr blogs), and then import individually to those where you may have sufficient space to complete the import.
For now, though, it is not possible to proceed with imports on backup005.wordpress.com without an upgrade, which you can purchase from here: https://wordpress.com/plans/.

Hello, thank you for the information.
So if I’m understanding right, I cannot import another blog of mine on the same site, because the one I imported took too much space on the free plan, correct ?
So the “can’t have 2 imports at once” message is just because of the lack of space, right ?
I think i will create a site for each of my blogs,as backs up in this case. However, what about the custom domain error ? None of my blogs have a coded customized theme.

Hi again,
So if I’m understanding right, I cannot import another blog of mine on the same site, because the one I imported took too much space on the free plan, correct ?
That is correct. The media storage limit for free sites is 1GB, but the import will hard-stop at 3GB. Note that if the site is over !GB after the import, your free site will still be in overage. You will not be able to add new media but will be limited to what came across in the import unless you upgrade (to add storage space) or delete content to get under 1GB again. https://wordpress.com/support/space-upgrade/#how-much-storage-space-do-i-need
So the “can’t have 2 imports at once” message is just because of the lack of space, right ?
I think i will create a site for each of my blogs,as backs up in this case. It’s better if you import one site at a time, to avoid issues with the import, time-out due to bandwidth usage, etc. It’s not clear the message is related to that or the storage issue (or both) but ultimately you should limit yourself to one site at a time for best results.
However, what about the custom domain error ? None of my blogs have a coded customized theme.
In the overwhelming majority of cases, disconnecting from Tumblr and reconnecting will resolve this issue. If that does not help (you may need to try disconnecting more than once) let us know and we can take a closer look.

Understood, thank you, I made a secondary site (with the same username and such) and my import was not interrupted when I’m importing another blog of mine. I’ll stick to only doing one at a time.
I will keep you updated regarding the custom domain error, in that case. Please do not close the topic just yet, so I can update readers if i was able to fix my issue :)
Also, when you say disconnecting from Tumblr, do you mean via wordpress, or the tumblr site itself ?

Also, when you say disconnecting from Tumblr, do you mean via wordpress, or the tumblr site itself ?
I’d start here:
https://backup005.wordpress.com/wp-admin/admin.php?import=tumblrThen if it still shows here, disconnect that, too.
https://www.tumblr.com/settings/appsBy the way, I noticed you’re using imports as backups. I’m guessing you’re aware we also own Tumblr now. If you want to let us know your goal of backups, we may be able to make another recommendation.
