turn off editing comments
-
We need to be able to track if comments have been edited. Is there a way to see the comment’s editing history, or if not, is there a way to disable editing of comments? Thanks

Hi there,
There is no revision history for comments, no. But if you upgrade to one of our paid plans you’ll be able to see who edited any comment and when from the Activity section at My Site ->Tools ->Activity.
https://wordpress.com/support/activity/
Whether or not a user on the site can edit comments depends on their user role:
Admins and editors can spam, delete, or edit any comment on any post or page.
Authors can only take those actions on comments left on a post they published. Authors cannot edit their own comments on someone else’s post.
Contributors and site visitors have no ability to edit comments.

Hi,
Thanks for this. I have now upgraded to the personal plan, and I can see that a record is now kept of who has edited any comments. However, it still doesn’t seem possible to see what edits they have made. Once a change has been made, all versions of the comment become the most recent one and there seems to be no record of what the comment was originally. Is there any way to see this kind of track changes?
Thanks!

Hi there,
Comments do not have a version history like posts and pages do. The Activity section only shows who edited a comment and when.
