Turn offf comments and leave a replay in WordPress theme 2011

  Hi
  I want to turn off comments and leave a replay – remove altogether from my site. I followed the different FAQs offer on the site for the 2011 theme – but, they do not work. I have another site http://www.vienews.ca where I got a plugin, but my hosted version does not allow plugins. Can you advise?

  Keep in mind that you need to turn off comments on all existing pages and posts even after you turn off comments for the site as a whole. That may be causing some of the confusion if you followed the instructions and are still seeing comment options.
