Twenty-Eleven Mobile Navigation Menu

    So, I love the look and feel of the Twenty-Eleven theme. I’d seen it used in many blogs and found the user interface from the reader side absolutely fantastic. For example, https://parahumans.wordpress.com.

    I noticed that while it was using the Twenty-Eleven theme, it could get a mini push-to-open menu on mobile devices. However, I could not replicate that on my site that also uses Twenty-Eleven.

    Do you have any tips on how to make that happen?

    * A mobile navigation menu on twenty-eleven theme.

    I tried to check around online for topics such as this, but never got the search results I was looking for. Those results only talked about the main sidebar.

    Hi there,

    Twenty Eleven doesn’t natively support a mobile menu. To achieve that, you’ll either need to alter the theme’s source files (not recommended) or use a plugin.

    Please note that if you want to use a plugin on WordPress.com, you’ll have to upgrade to our Pro plan.

    Thank you! Do you have any recommendations for such plugins? I am currently testing out the full WordPress software on localhost while using WordPress.com to test out a free site. Because of that, I can use plugins to see how the development I carry out in a local environment could be brought into the WordPress.com site. I eventually want to upgrade to the Pro plan but not until I have all the smaller details fixed out.

    To put simply, I want to carry out multiple tests regarding WordPress in a local environment before actually upgrading on WordPress.com.

    Hi there,

    We do not have a specific recommendation for a plugin you can use in this case. WordPress is an open platform (that tens of thousands of companies/individuals create plugins for) so we are not familiar with them all.

    Instead I would recommend checking out a few of the comparison posts that are out there for menu plugins, like the ones you see in this search.

    Most likely the functionality of these plugins is similar so the primary difference is the visual style (how they look) and that is tough for us to make a recommendation on since everyone’s tastes can vary.
