Twitter misdirecting

  My Profile takes me to the wrong Twitter account. It takes me to the Twitter account that has picked up my old user name. My Profile is linked to my new user name but when I click on my name it goes to someone else’s Twitter account. How do I fix that?

  Hi there,

  Do you mean the Twitter section in your site’s sidebar, which goes to https://twitter.com/giselle_hello ? You can change that in the Widgets section in your site’s Customizer.

  After you open the Customizer, go to the Widgets section and select “Primary Widget Area.” That will show you all of the widgets in your main sidebar. The last widget there is the Twitter widget, and you can enter the correct username there.

  However, I’d also recommend switching from that old Twitter widget to the newer Twitter Timeline widget while you’re at it. We have a Twitter Timeline Widget support page with more details about how to set that up.

  Rachel, I have followed your instructions right through to where it says to copy and paste the code into the HTML of your site.
  But i don’t know where that is and can’t find it for looking.
  I have copied the code into notes for safekeeping.
  Thanks for your help so far – it feels like I am close to fixing this (with your awesome help of course).

  Hi Giselle,

  If you’re adding the Twitter Timeline widget, you don’t need the full HTML that Twitter gives you. Instead, you only need the Twitter widget ID mentioned on our support page:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/twitter-timeline-widget/#get-your-twitter-widget-id

  You can copy that ID and paste it into the Twitter Timeline widget. Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

  i just went to my site and my profile now links to my correct twitter site – i must’ve fixed it the other day but it took a bit longer for the change to be activated.
  all good now.
