unable to create user accounts

Here are the steps i followed when problem arises:
    1. create user account
    2. set user account email, username, name and surname.
    3. set user role to Administrator. (all on Chrome browser)
    4. Move to Mozilla to test if user account is working and able to log onto wp-admin backend.
    5. WordPress accepts email and password provided for login.
    6. after less than 1 minute of being logged on on Mozilla the ‘session expired’ popup appears and requests login again.
    7. after providing the same login details and error page pops up saying user not allowed to access page.
    8. head back to Chrome into User’s account/profile to see that the nickname, firstname and lastname was removed, only the email shows and the user role was changed from Administrator to -none-.

I have a few admins on my page because in this company there are several people requiring that access.

How do i go about fixing this issue? None of the employees are able to work.

  • Hello there,

Many thanks for reaching out and providing such detail.

It looks like clouddistribution.africa is a self-hosted WordPress site, which is a bit different to a site hosted on WordPress.com. You can read about these differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

This means our support is limited.

It looks like there’s something messing with the login functionality in the site, so my advice would be to rule out plugins that have the potential to do that. For example, When Last Login.

I also noticed there’s a child theme in use – if there’s been any development conducted that may affect this functionality, to undo or neutralise any custom development there.
