Unable to indent a paragraph
-
I have been using WordPress for many years. My blog is as simple as possible: just straight text. Nevertheless, it has become more and more difficult to indent a block (such as one for a long quotation). In the past, I could access the Classic Editor, but I can’t anymore, and none of the advice I’ve been given by different AIs, including WordPress’s own, has worked. Why’s it now impossible for someone without advanced technical skills or a paid plan to indent a paragraph?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

you could use the quote block. – https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/quote-block/

It was suggested to use block quotes, but none of the normal ways to create them work in my blog: not “Quote, not /quote, not >(space)

Neither “/quote” nor the other quote block commands works on my WordPress-hosted blog. When I enter any of those commands, nothing happens.

Apparently, the problem is that I’m still using my original Kubrick theme, which pre-dated the current block editor and doesn’t doesn’t display block styles in the editor preview. The hope is that the quote block will be visible in published posts whether it’s visible in the editor preview or not.
