unable to "register domain" message when trying to transfer and map main i own

New to WordPress, when i tried to create my site i can’t get very far as regardless of whether I try to transfer or map a domain name i had registered through another provider i got a message saying “unable to register domain try again in 4 hours” i even tried to upgrade my account to the 7 pound a month premium one and it wouldn’t’t let me do that. It is all very counter intuitive, is this a bug with wordpress or am i doing something wrong.

Yesterday at the time you posted this thread our domain provider was having technical difficulties, so all domain-related actions were temporarily disabled.
They have since sorted out the problem and domain-related actions have been re-enabled on WordPress.com, so please try transferring your domain again if you still want to – I see you’ve already connected it via domain mapping instead.
