unable to update anything

  I’m in the process of updating information on my agency’s website, but I need to upgrade to the latest version of wordpress. To do this, I need the latest version of PHP. Do update PHP, I need information that we no longer have. The website was created in 2012 by an outside source that’s no longer available. Is there any way I can get access to these so I can update things properly?
