Unable to verify e-mail address. Has correct confirmation e-mail been sent?

Hi guys I’m stuck in a loop. I’ve created a blog ( as part of a course requirement for the Open Polytechnic here in NZ) but when I received the following:
‘Please Verify Your Email Address
In order to publish posts, please verify your email address by clicking the link in the confirmation email that we sent to (email visible only to moderators and staff).
Resend confirmation email | Send to another email address’and went to my e-mail account to find the verifying e-mail I found this:
‘eledirseren.wordpress.com is yours! Start customizing it now.
Your new WordPress.com site is ready to go! Looking for ideas for your new site? Check out the WordPress.com beginner’s tutorial.

Log In’When I clicked on the Log In button I get sent back to this:
‘Please Verify Your Email Address

Resend confirmation email | Send to another email address’No matter how many times I click on ‘Resend Confirmation email’ nothing arrives at my e-mail account. I’m stuck in a loop.
So, what gives? And is it fixable?

Thanks for response, timethief. I took the obvious route and tried again with a new user name and e-mail address, which seems to have worked this time. So all is good.

Staff can always manually confirm accounts as well, so you don’t need to create a new one. Would you like me to confirm the account eledirseren for use?

I don’t want to get a new email address, so I’m hoping to resolve with my existing email address.

Thank you for your responses, but I just wanted to get on with the exercise, so having gained access through a change of username and e-mail address I’m now in and able to get on with my course. I don’t know why these things occasionally occur but as long as there’s a way around it, no matter how tiresome or dispiriting, then that’s okay with me.

Sounds good.
We are seeing some delay with the account confirmation emails going out lately. We’re keeping an eye on it to see if there’s something larger at play.
