‘Unknown Token’

My manager wants me to become an administrator for our business website, but whenever I accept his invitation, it does not work and says ‘Unknown Token’.
For detail, I am logged in. The screen says, ‘Would you like to start managing ____________?’ I click ‘join’. Nothing happens except an ‘Unknown Token’ pop-up with a red ! symbol.

I need to become an administrator for thriveaz.org. It should already be a WordPress site managed by another.

First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these two things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.
2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

I tried with Chrome (87), Edge (90), and Firefox (88). Same result for all. I cleared the cache and cookies. The Edge and Firefox were pretty fresh installations. I also tried with a new 2nd WordPress account and tried it through Chrome on my phone. No luck. It seems to be related to the website itself or the invite sent to me.
Is there any way you can simply request verification from the site owner and add my account in manually?
