‘unpublish’ my website or ‘disconnect’?

  Is disconnecting from Jetpack the best way to put website on hold?

  Disconnecting JetPack won’t take your site offline. It will just mean you won’t be able to manage the site via a WordPress.com account. You’ll need to approach your host 1 & 1 to see if they offer an “unpublish” service, or you’ll need to install the appropriate WordPress.org plugin to make your site private. Ask at https://wordpress.org/support/
