unusual activity
-
in the last few days I have been receiving some unusual activity on my blog and I am worried someone is up to no good. I suddenly have a huge visitor spike from an average of about 60 to 70 visitors a day to 280 to 300 a day, but all the extra visitors appear to be from Vietnam and all those appear to come from Facebook, not only that, they all visit the same page, it just doesn’t look or feel right compared to how my blog is usually visited. I have searched Facebook for links to my site but can’t find anything that relates to this spike. Any ideas?

Hi there,
All this means is that someone, likely in Vietnam, stumbled across your site somehow, saw something they liked and shared shared it on Facebook, and that person’s friends/followers are now visiting your site.
You won’t necessarily be able to find the shared link on Facebook, as it could have been shared by someone whose posts are only visible to their friends, on a closed group, or a restricted access page. Facebook also does not tell us where on their site specific traffic is coming from, only that it’s coming from them, so there’s no way to know who shared your site there.
But there is no possible way this can harm your site. These are just normal visitors to your site, and potentially a source of new traffic and regular readers.
