Unwanted Notifications
-
Lately I’ve been seeing notifications about unlocking achievements. Then just today I received one that said “Classic material: Take a look back at what you published on this day, May 28.” And I’ve always disliked the “Streaks” notifications: “You’re on a four-day posting streak!” I don’t care for or want any of these kinds of notifications. Is there a way to turn them off? I am a notifications minimalist. I just want to know when someone comments on my blog or links to one of my posts or responds to one of my comments on another WordPress site.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
You can absolutely trim the noise down so you only see core engagement like comments and link trackbacks.
To turn off those gamification alerts (like milestones, posting streaks, and “On This Day” style memories), you can disable them directly from your settings interface. Here are the exact steps to get that pristine setup:
- Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner of your WordPress.com dashboard.
- Select Notification Settings from the left-hand menu.
- Under the notifications panel for your site, locate the Site achievements option.
- Uncheck both the notification bell box and the email box for Site achievements. This disables the gamified alerts like streaks and rewards.
- While you are there, make sure the boxes for Comments on my site, Likes on my comments, and Username mentions remain checked so you don’t miss real human interactions.
- Scroll down to the bottom of that section and click the blue Save settings button.
This will instantly declutter your dashboard feed and keep your notifications strictly limited to meaningful conversations. Let us know if you run into any trouble adjusting those checkboxes!

You are very welcome! I’m so glad you were able to track down those settings and get your notifications tailored exactly to your liking.
Please feel free to start a new thread if anything else comes up. Have a wonderful rest of your week!
