Unwanted One Line Spaces Exist Throughout Published Webpages

  On all of my published webpages, in no matter what theme I use, there are random one line spaces throughout my posts. The spaces randomly appear before and after headers, between paragraphs, but there is no obvious pattern. The problem does not appear in edit mode, nor even in previews of my posts. The problem only exists in published pages, regardless of the theme I use. I have exhausted the A.I.’s help. There are no unwanted items in the List View. There is no unwanted code in the Code View. This problem is annoying, making my articles look disheveled. Does anyone know how I can get rid of these one line gaps? I’d appreciate any help. Thanks.

  Hi! This is a pretty well-known block editor quirk – it’s often caused by empty paragraph blocks that collapse and look invisible while you’re editing, but still take up space once the page is actually published.

  Since it’s happening across every theme, I’d guess it’s not a theme styling issue, but something structural in how the content was built. A couple of things to try:

  1. In the editor, switch to List View (the icon that looks like stacked lines, top left of the block editor) and look closely for any blocks with no visible content – even a single blank paragraph block can cause this.
  2. Try selecting all content in one affected post, deleting it, and retyping it fresh into the block editor rather than pasting – pasted content (especially from Word or Google Docs) is a very common source of hidden empty blocks.
  3. If it keeps happening only in specific spots, try clicking right before the blank space appears and pressing backspace once – sometimes it removes a leftover invisible block.

  This is subtle because it really doesn’t show up until the page renders live – let me know if trying a freshly retyped post fixes it, that’ll help confirm the cause!
