Unwanted post notifications being sent

Hi! I’ve deactivated and even deleted ‘Email Subscribers’ and started using a different mailing plugin, and yet subscribers are still getting new post notifications from (email visible only to moderators and staff). How do I stop this?
In case it’s important- my website runs in two languages, and the notifications are being sent for only one of them (I’m using Lingothek plug in)

The site mentioned does not use our managed hosting environment from WordPress.com. Instead, it’s set up on the open source WordPress.org software which is something different.
