Update expired domain information

Our domain name expired in October, and reverted from a .com to a .wordpress.com address. I just want to re-up to the .com address, but I cannot figure out how to do this. Don’t I just have to renew the existing subscription? Everything I can find is about creating a new domain. Please help!

Domain expiration is a lengthy and rather complicated process that takes about 80 days, during which your domain may be put up for auction or sold on back-order.
