Update MX record and A record to allow email to work

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I received an email from my domain host after setting up an email address and do not know how to update the mx and a records?
I tried to go into my account under “domains” but there was no option to edit DNS (as shown in the example on the wiki – and when I try and add my domain it says that it’s already added).

Can you please assist me to update the records as per the email below?

    Hello Mary,

    Thank you for your email.

It appears that your domain name server is pointing at other web hosting provider.
    Name Server 1: ns1.wordpress.com
    Name Server 2: ns2.wordpress.com
    Name Server 3: ns3.wordpress.com

Your domain is pointing to that name server in order to make your website running.

This is why your incoming mail server with us is not recognized.

Please contact your web hosting provider and have them configure as followed:

    MX record
    maryaroundtheworld.com –> mail.maryaroundtheworld.com

    A record
    mail.maryaroundtheworld.com –> 27.123.26.2

    Thank you

  • Hi there, the DNS editor is under Store > Domains, Edit DNS:

    http://cl.ly/image/2L0f2l1V2620

    Direct link:
    https://maryaroundtheworlddotcom1.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains&action=dnsedit&domain=maryaroundtheworld.com

I went ahead and added your records like so:

    A mail 27.123.26.2
    MX 10 mail.maryaroundtheworld.com.

Your email should start flowing soon. Just let me know if you still need any help.
