update wordpress database message at admin login

hello – i am unable to log into the backstage wordpress – a message saying i must update the wordpress database is presented when i try to access the backstage admin dashboard. why is this happening? is it safe for me to just click update?

The site imindtransformation.com (and associated subdomains) appear to be a self-hosted WordPress (also called “.org”) sites hosted on Siteground Web Hosting, and not hosted on our WordPress.com service.

To clarify, we are not the only providers of WordPress sites, and Siteground also happens to offer WordPress on their service, but they use a different version of the platform than what we use here.
