I’ve edited a page and hit update, but nothing was saved. This has happened a few times, although other times I’ve successfully saved changes. I’m not sure what I did differently.

Can you tell us more about your issue? Did you see an error message of some kind while trying to save or notice any other odd behavior? Also what is the URL of the page you were trying to save? We can take a look directly at the revision history for the page to see if there is any missing content to be found within there.
Also can you give us some idea of what content you are missing from that page? A brief description of it will help us recognize it it when we take a closer look.

As it turns out, the work was saved, but not published apparently. It does not appear when I “visit the site” or when I’m looking at the home page unless I go through “pages” and then click on “home.” I’m not sure if this is visible to the public, or how to make it so. Also on this page are some of the default text that was already on the page: “Hi! Check out my work, and get in touch below!” and “Featured Works.” I don’t know why none of this is visible on the page: https://themattasheensociety.wordpress.com/.
I also don’t know how to re-size the image box I put on there, or how to keep the text box underneath it. The multiple-dot hand tool to move boxes doesn’t work. -

The page in question is an edited version of the page that is already set as my home page. The changes I’ve made to it don’t display on the public view as far as I can tell.

Hm, there’s definitely only 1 page on the site you listed. It’s titled “Home” but your site is set to display just your latest posts on the front page.

The template that I used for my home page originally had 3 boxes positioned horizontally across the page with a section labeled “My Work” below it. I deleted the 3 boxes, but have decided I want to have something where they were positioned. I have tried to add a box, but haven’t been able to do so and I don’t understand why.
I did change the settings to display my latest posts on the home page (I actually want to display all my posts in perpetuity; is there a cap on how many posts I can display on the home page?), but I did not intend to have that be the only thing on my home page. If I adjusted the settings to do that, it was inadvertent. Do I need to change the settings to add more boxes or other elements?
The content I have created that is not displaying is only accessible when I go to the pages sub-menu and click on Home. Then my home page is displayed with the changes I’ve made (an image and text posting under the heading Featured Works). Also visible on this page is the default text from the template, such as the heading My Work. I don’t understand why none of this is visible on the site. I hit Update, but it is not Published.

To set that page as the page people see when they visit your site, you need to open the Customizer and go to Homepage settings and under “Your homepage displays” change that to “A static page” then choose your “Home” page and save to show that.
Once you do that, let us know if you still have trouble or if something isn’t showing like you expect.

I only have one page, and it doesn’t seem like what you are saying and what the previous staff person who commented are saying are referring to the same thing. How do I open the Customizer? I see no link or icon labeled as such. On the “My Home” page, there is a link that says “Customize theme” but nothing that says Customizer.

Ah! I see that the “customize theme” button did indeed open the customizer. However, I also see that following your advice to have a static page would mean that my latest posts would not display. It is “either or” then? If I set the page to display my latest posts, I can’t have anything else on the page?

I don’t understand what the page linked to above even is if it’s not an edited version of my home page and I don’t understand why I can’t publish it, or if I do, what will happen to my posts?

Hi! The link is https://themattasheensociety.wordpress.com/home/ right now, right?
It will display exactly like that. It is still a “static” page but, thanks to the blog posts blocks you’re using, it can display posts as well. Just gives you a lot more control over the layout.
Go to Customize > Front Page. Select static, and then pick Home. Save your change and you’ll be set.

That is a gallery block with only one image, so it can’t be resized.
Instead, try an image block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/image-block/#resize-imageshow to remove the text block underneath it

First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these two things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.
2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

There is no limit, and you can set how many by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/settings/reading-settings/

I had tried the block removal you indicated, but when I click on the block in question, it isn’t selected. I can edit the text within it, but the requisite tool menu doesn’t appear.

Yes, I was and am trying to remove the block under the gallery picture at the top of my page, and then remove the picture itself. In the meantime, I have created an image block with the same picture at the very bottom of the page, which I can’t seem to drag to the top of the page where I want it to be (to replace the gallery and text blocks).

I don’t understand how the drag tool works. It only appears as a hand when it is over the tool bar, not when it is over the block that (I think) is associated with the tool bar.
I also don’t know how to control the placement of blocks I add on the page. -
Hi there,
To move a block, you first need to select it. To select a block, you will click anywhere inside it. When you do that, the toolbar will appear with the 6 dots icon; when hovering over that icon, your cursor will turn into a hand, and it will allow you to drag and drop the block anywhere on the page:
Instead of using the drag and drop feature, you can also use the little arrows on the toolbar:
I understand that you were already able to remove the picture you wanted?
